Bowood House & Gardens is a premier location for film, television, fashion and advertising photography, ideal for period dramas, modern films, factual documentaries and photoshoots. We are experienced in filming location management and understand the demands of a busy crew and work alongside production companies to ensure a smooth shoot.  Filming at Bowood is subject to a location fee, based on the specific requirements, resources needed, duration, and time of year.

Bowood House & Gardens offers an exceptional backdrop for filming, with its idyllic landscape and historical architecture. We can offer a variety of unique locations, which are outlined below and in our gallery.

As a proud Filming in England Partner, Bowood House & Gardens is committed to supporting film and TV drama productions. The Filming in England Partnership connects various organisations across England, outside of London, to create a film-friendly environment.

We welcome amateur photography for private, non-commercial use in our grounds.  Inside the House no flash photography can be used and we encourage you to share your photography on our social media.

Bowood does not permit photography or filming on its property for commercial or financial gain nor reproduction without consent from the Bowood Estate.  All requests for permission to undertake professional or semi-professional photography should be referred to the Bowood Estate by emailing s.forwood@bowood.org.  For press enquiries please contact press@bowood.org.

Please note the following policy applies;

  • Unauthorised drone use is not allowed in the House & Gardens nor wider Estate.
  • Unauthorised professional or semi-professional filming, photography or photoshoots which give financial gain* is not allowed.
  • We do not allow filming or photoshoots for engagement, pre-wedding, or weddings.

*Financial gain – earning reward, money either directly or indirectly, promoting your business, selling imagery to photography libraries, agencies, or publishing.
